How do you become an effective blogger? How do you ensure your blog gets more quality readers? Does it just depend on your blog content, is it determined by how you market your blog or is it dependent on all of these factors? I believe the trick to effective blogging is not to try and reinvent the wheel but to learn from successful bloggers – people who have established themselves as experts in the blogging arena.
In this post, I present the 7 habits of highly effective bloggers.
Know Your Audience
Once you’ve established a blog and established an audience, it’s crucial to ensure that your blog posts cater to that audience. Readers appreciate interesting information in a well presented manner. I love blog posts which are precise, to the point and provide the information that I’m looking for. In retrospect, I quickly lose interests in blog posts which are personal rants or make aggressive sales pitches to an audience. Understand your audience and write posts that make you understood.
Content is King
If you want to be an effective blogger, you need to serve quality content. My experience has taught me that there’s no substitute for quality content. If you don’t provide original quality content, you’ll never be able to sustain an audience with your posts.
I’ve come across several bloggers who started off on the right note but failed to maintain the momentum. Once you’ve established a bond with your audience, it’s crucial to maintain and nurture with timely posts. Most effective bloggers ensure that they post at least 2-3 times per week. Being an effective blogger requires discipline and regularity.
An effective blogger needs to have a vision for a blog’s future. It’s important to have a vision in mind and then be committed to work hard to achieve it. A blogger who lacks long-term vision may attain short-term success but will struggle to establish himself/ herself as an effective blogger in the long run.
As a blogger, it’s crucial that you establish credibility and a reputation for yourself. An effective blogger is one who can instill trust in readers with his opinions and guidance. Bloggers aren’t born with reputations and credibility; instead it’s all related to what they write and with what credibility they write with.
Out of the Box
Innovation is a key part of establishing yourself as an effective blogger. You can gain monetary success by offering run of the mill content and it would establish you as a financially success blogger but not as an effective blogger. It’s important for a blogger to reinvent himself with time and as per the audience demands.
It requires a lot of hard work and passion to establish oneself as an effective blogger. You need to be passionate about your writing, your readers and what the blog means to you. As they often say, good bloggers are driven by rewards but great bloggers are driven by passion.
