How To Make The Most Out of Twitter with Buffer App

Buffer AppAs an avid Twitter user, I’ve never been averse to trying out third-party apps to improve my overall user experience. I’ve a habit of scheduling tweets and I strongly believe that’s one of the best ways to follow a well-defined tweeting schedule. It keeps my followers interested and ensures that there are no let-ups in my tweeting frequency.

While there are hundreds of Twitter scheduling and analytical tools available, I’ve always been on the lookout for a third-party Twitter app which offers the best of all worlds – scheduling tweets, Twitter management, syndication exchange and last but not the least – uniform access from the web and mobile. A friend of mine recommended that I try out Buffer App and I decided to give it a shot – the rest as they say is history!

Why is Buffer App Special?

The first obvious question – what makes Buffer App so special when there are tons of third-party Twitter apps out there? First things first, Buffer offers a unique concept where I can add any Web page to my Buffer, which lets me edit, manage and view analytics. It supports multiple accounts, which you can navigate with a swipe – easy as I like!

Buffer is on the job when I’m away and it analyzes my social data and automatically publishes my updates when there’s maximum activity in my Tweetverse. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Buffer is proven to increase the number of clicks on your Twitter links by 200% and it’s capable of doubling your retweets.

With the Buffer App browser extension for Firefox, Safari, and Chrome, you can easily share content right from your blog and directly from your Twitter.com stream.

Mobile

I love the Android Nexus S. To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect of the Buffer Android app – but I must admit that it ranks among the best Android apps for Twitter that I’ve used till date. Buffer doesn’t have an app for iPhone and iPad yet but it provides an email workaround for iOS users.

Buffer Button for Blogs

The Buffer button have shown to have outperformed the +1 button on over 1,000 blogs it has been installed so far, including here on Smedio. It makes sharing your content seamless for readers. You can easily install the Buffer button with the Sharebar plugin for WordPress as shown here or directly on your website or blog as shown here.

How to use Buffer?

Once you sign up for Buffer, it suggests an optimized tweeting schedule for you as shown below.

Once you hit the ‘Tweak my schedule’, Buffer comes with a number of suggestions including

  • Which shortener you use and relevant details?
  • When you should tweet?
  • Manage and Invite team members

Buffer App

To schedule a tweet, simply click on the ‘Add to Buffer’ button. For retweets, buffer lets you edit the text if needed. You can then view your tweet analytics under the ‘My Buffer’ section and check how each buffered item performed. The analytical information includes how many retweets, clicks and what reach each of your tweets saw.

How does Buffer optimize my tweeting schedule?

I started using Buffer and I could see the difference it made within a week far beyond anything similar I have used in the past. I was curious as to how Buffer came up with an optimized tweeting schedule for me without asking any questions. While digging for more information, I found that Buffer developers queried the Twitter and Bit.ly APIs for click information for users before they joined Buffer. They compared an “on-tweet average” number of clicks on Bit.ly links prior to joining Buffer with the average clicks after.

All in all, a great way to improve your Twitter experience. Have you tried out Buffer? If not, sign up here. If so, what’s your feedback on it? Please share your opinion by leaving a comment.

  1. I love the idea of buffer, but when I added the button to my blog, it messed up the top of my blog even though I disabled the top buffer button.

I’m debuting a new theme next week so I want to try the buffer button again.

Thanks for this very clear and helpful explanation!

  2. Hi Douglas, I like the Buffer+Twylah integration, but there are multiple apps (e.g. Social Bro, RSS Owl) and extensions (e.g. Buffer for Firefox) that can be applied. I also love the way Buffer suggests a quote, to post, if you are in need of a piece of content.

  6. An interesting debate regarding casino and betting agencies is worth a comment. I believe that you need to write more about this topic, it might not be a taboo matter but typically people don’t talk about these issues.Casino on-line betting is usually the most effective and secure means to place your bets at this time. The bonus deals and special offers are really an appealing option for online poker. People will likely never find these kind of options in any conventional casino.
